ANM Group is proud to announce the continuation of our support for the #LambForStAndrewsDay campaign, run by the Institute of Auctioneers and Appraisers in Scotland (IAAS) in conjunction with Quality Meat Scotland (QMS).
As we approach St Andrew’s Day on the 30th of November, we are calling on our members and customers to join us in making this initiative a success by donating to the Lamb Bank.
Farmers can participate by contributing the value of store, prime and breeding lambs, cull and breeding ewes, and tups to the Lamb Bank when selling at auction. The funds raised through these donations will be used to supply lamb to Scottish schools, ensuring students have the opportunity to appreciate the qualities of Scotch Lamb.
Since its inception in 2020, the #LambForStAndrewsDay initiative has strengthened every year, delivering a remarkable 2.75 tonnes of lamb to secondary schools across Scotland. This effort has provided over 130,000 portions to classrooms and canteens, educating students about the benefits of locally sourced red meat and the importance of supporting local food chains.
Scotland’s livestock marts and the red meat sector have long been advocates for Scotch Lamb as the perfect choice for celebrating St Andrew’s Day. Through this program, we aim to inspire the next generation of Scots to appreciate the value of locally sourced lamb, while also supporting Scottish farmers.
The campaign has shown a positive economic impact, with the mart prime lamb price tracking upwards throughout November over the past four years.
To get involved and #donatealamb, we encourage you to speak to your local auctioneer or contact the main office. Donations are open across all our centres.
