ANM Group celebrates charity cheque triumph

03/03/2015

Farming co-operative, the ANM Group, and its Charity Committee is celebrating the culmination of a year of fundraising efforts for CLAN Cancer Support by presenting a cheque for £80,000 to charity representatives today.

The Group aspired to mark the 25-year milestone of its agricultural and community hub at Thainstone Centre in Inverurie in style - through a year of challenges and fundraising activities.  The staff voted for their ‘Charity of the Year’ and CLAN was selected as a charity close to their hearts due to the invaluable support provided to two colleagues in recent years.

Throughout the year, ANM Group staff and its supporters raised much-needed funds through a variety of activities, including bake sales; a pancake bake off; Hud’er Chappin’ 25-hour walking relay; ‘Movember’; ‘Go Purple for CLAN’; an Anniversary Show and Sale and a charity dinner and auction.

Pat Machray, ANM Group Chief Executive, said:  “This fantastic achievement is testimony to the hard work and generosity of all those involved. The total amount has surpassed any of our wildest expectations and it gives me great pride to hand over this cheque to such a worthy cause.”

Susan Crighton, CLAN Cancer Support’s Fundraising Manager, said: “We are delighted to accept this fantastic donation. It is an incredible total and the money will be put to good use in helping CLAN to continue to offer support, throughout the area, to anyone affected by cancer. We are tremendously grateful to the ANM Group and everyone who supported the year of fundraising; I know it was a real team effort.”

Thainstone Centre first opened its doors on the 3rd January 1990 as one of the largest livestock markets in Europe and has since become a diverse agricultural base in the North East of Scotland - attracting buyers and sellers from all corners of the UK.
