Strong prices achieved at Thainstone’s collective sale of plant, machinery and equipment

24/08/2018

Thainstone Centre welcomed over 2,000 buyers and sellers on Saturday 18th August for its sixth collective sale of plant, machinery and equipment of 2018. More than 3,300 lots were entered, and 80% of all lots sold on-site and online, with strong demand and prices achieved across all categories.

Mark Barrack, Head of Thainstone Specialist Auctions, said: “We are pleased with the success of the auction and prices achieved on the day. The sale saw a significant increase of more than 50% of lots entered compared to last year’s event in August, and demand was strong across all sections. There is a large number of buyers looking to purchase leading brands of machinery and equipment, including JCB, Case, John Deere, Massey Ferguson, Ford, Land Rover, Mercedes Benz, Vauxhall, Volkswagen, DAF, Iveco, MAN and Scania.

“Since the first sale in 1991, the event has grown significantly and established itself as the largest collective plant, machinery and equipment sale in Scotland, which regularly attracts a wide range of buyers and sellers from across the UK and Europe. This success comes as a result of the hard work of our highly skilled and professional staff, loyal customers, the power of the auction system which achieves true value of goods, and the good quality, second-hand equipment entries available at our sales.

John Angus, Head of Livestock at Aberdeen & Northern Marts, said: “The harvest season is well underway, and we anticipate another strong sale in September, with buyers looking to purchase a variety of farm machinery and equipment ahead of winter. We look forward to welcoming everyone to Thainstone Centre on Saturday 22nd September.”
